Winter Hair Care Products To Keep My Hair Luscious

Winter Hair Care Products

The colder months can be very harsh and damaging to your hair! To keep my hair looking luscious during the winter season I prep my hair with certain products. My favorite Winter hair care products include a hair oil, mask, wash out conditioner, and a leave-in conditioner. I also really like to use a moisturizing shampoo in order to help hydrate my hair even more.

I have very dry and brittle hair, so it’s super important to me to keep my hair well hydrated during the winter months. All these hair products will help keep your hair hydrated in order to keep it looking healthy and luscious even during the harsh winter weather. My winter hair care routine utilizes moisturizing shampoos and conditioners, along with hair masks and oils.

It’s super important to look for a shampoo that has ingredients that support hydration. This will help prevent further drying out. I like shampoos that do not have any sulfates or parabens. Sulfates have been known to strip hair of essential oils which may make your hair brittle and dry. A study of parabens concluded that they may be carcinogenic.

One of my current favorite moisturizing shampoos is this one by Raw Sugar. ( I just starting using the Raw Sugar Brand and I am in LOVE with it.) According to the EWG, this shampoo is rated a 4, which means it is moderately hazardous, in terms of allergies and sensitivities. The only thing that makes this shampoo moderately hazardous is because it uses fragrance. If scents bother you, then this is definitely not the shampoo for you. But if you are ok with a light fresh scent, then you might want to consider this shampoo to help keep your hair looking luscious during the winter months! We all experienced a dry scalp at one point during winter and flakes are so not cute. To help prevent increased dryness and an irritated scalp I used the ASTERA FRESH from Rene Furterer. In November, I got my hair colored and my scalp got so irritated! My scalp literally started shedding! (yes I was literally getting scalped). My stylist suggested that I try the ASTERA FRESH shampoo. Let me tell you it worked SO WELL. I think I only needed to use it 2 times to help soothe and hydrate my scalp and prevent flakes. This shampoo is a little pricey, but it was so worth it! It was such a relief to soothe my irritated scalp.

Conditioners

Conditioners are my absolute must have winter hair care products. Everyone knows to condition after shampoo, but its super important to use a leave in conditioner as well. I like to use both conditioners together because it helps keep my hair well hydrated. Although, if you use too much of both these products, your hair may get greasy looking.

Wash out

Like the shampoo, I love the conditioner too! I feel like the Raw Sugar Moisture Conditioner is really perfect for adding more hydration to your hair and scalp. I like how it makes my hair feel stronger and healthier. Not to mention, it makes my hair super shiny and soft. I try to keep my conditioner on as long as I can to really maximize this product and help it work into my hair.

I recently just started using Raw Sugar products, and so far, I am in love! Both the shampoo and conditioner are great products and really do add the moisture needed to keep your hair looking healthy and luscious this winter!

Leave in

Leave in conditioners are a great addition to your winter hair care products arsenal. I like to use a leave in conditioner after my normal wash out conditioner about twice a week. A leave in conditioner will help tame down your hair and really smooth it out. When your hair is just a little damp, adding in some leave in conditioner can help style it and keep your hair looking luscious even in the dry winter weather. My 2 favorite leave in conditioners are by Kerastase and Shea Moisture. The one my Kerastase is salon worthy and really helps with frizz and hydration. The Shea Mosisture leave in conditioner helps to restore dry and brittle hair. This one smells great, but not overpowering.

The Shea Moisture has no sulfates or parabens. The EWG gives the wash out version of this conditioner a 4, the main issue that this may cause irritation due to the fragrance. This leave in conditioner has a mild coconut scent. I am rather sensitive to fragrance, but this one does not bother me. I use this one for more casual days.

When I’m feeling fancy or have places to go, I like using the Kerastase. I feel like this leave in conditioner is great for sleek looks and styling. It just makes my hair look so much more luxurious.

Hair Masks

My current go to mask is this Hair Masque! I currently use this treatment once a week in order to prep for the dry winter months coming ahead. Only using this product on the days where I do not use any extra products in my hair. I prefer not bundling this product with anything other than a normal wash out conditioner because I do not want to make my hair look overly greasy.

This mask and it works so well! I like how smooth and healthy it makes my hair feel. It definitely looks shinier and luscious even after one use! A hair mask one of my essential winter hair care products to keep my hair looking healthy and luscious even in the harsh winter months.

Again Raw Sugar hair care products are free of sulfates, parabens, or sulfates. This makes it safer to use because there are fewer irritants. According to the EWG rating, this product is a 4, making it moderately hazardous, BUT only because of the fragrance. In my personal opinion, this mask does not have a lot of fragrance, it just smells nice and fresh.

Hair Oils

I like hair oils to help maintain my normal hair shine, especially during winter. I normally only use oils when my hair is really brittle and super dry. Because my hair holds onto oils so it will end up looking super greasy if I use it too often.

My favorite one I use is the Macadamia healing oil treatment. I use this only about once a week and on days where I do not use any extra products. For some people, hair oils are really beneficial and can be used daily, but unfortunately, that is too much for me. I really like this one because it doesn’t make my hair feel oily or super greasy looking. This oil helps with frizz and makes my hair nice, shiny, and smooth.
