London Itinerary 4 Days

Enjoy my London itinerary 4 days guide! It can help make planning your trip so much easier. Traveling to London can be really intimidating. Trying to figure out how to make your entire trip flow, and pick out the most important things to do can get really overwhelming.

When I traveled there, I had to cut my trip short from 1 week to only 4 days in London. It was difficult deciding what I wanted to do, see, and where I wanted to eat. There were literally so many things to experience there.

Day 1: The Travel Day

The first day of the London itinerary for 4 days starts with the travel day. I flew 14 hours from LAX -> LHR. After arriving early afternoon, I used Uber to get from the airport to my hotel (St. Ermins) in Westminster, located in Central London. We decided to walk around and find some dinner around the area. I had plans to at a restaurant with Sunday Roast (since we landed there on a Sunday), but sadly they were all full!

Around the corner, was Nandos, another place I wanted to eat. Known to have GREAT chicken, this place DID NOT disappoint. We were lucky to get some chicken as they were already almost out. Make sure to try their cider as well. It went great with the chicken and not something you can find in the states.

After dinner, we just explored some more. We saw Westminster Abbey, the London Eye, and Big Ben at night. It was a really different experience, that I absolutely loved. It was very fun to see these sights at night.

Day 2: London City Tour + Stonehenge

We woke up extremely early for our tour of London city and Stonehenge. I booked this through Premium Tours because they were one of the only tour companies that had a tour of London and Stonehenge on the same day. We started the first half of the day with the London City tour and the rest of the afternoon we visited Stonehenge.

I loved the double decker bus we used for the tour! And we went all over the city to see the main touristy sights. We drove by Big Ben, The House of Parliament, Trafalgar Square, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, and also Westminster Abbey. There were some stops, where we were able to get out and walk around. It was nice to get a tour to see these places and also a little of the history of them. With this tour, we also got to see the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.

Another great aspect of this Tour was also the cruise portion of it! We rode along the Thames River with a private guided cruise. It was beautiful and another unique way to experience the sights of London. After the cruise portion, we had some free time to go get something to eat before the Stonehenge portion began. Our driver and tour guides were so amazing! I would definitely recommend this company for tours in London.

We visited Stonehenge for the last half of the day. This place is about 2 hours from the city. Stonehenge has a lot of history, which you can learn more about here. I thought Stonehenge was really beautiful to see, but I would not suggest going there unless you are really interested in the history. It honestly looks like just the pictures, and there’s nothing else around. If you are in a time crunch to visiting London, skip Stonehenge. Unless you are really interested in seeing it because the drive there is so long, and its nothing else to see but the stones.

Day 3: More Sightseeing + Food Market

On day 3, of my 4 days in London Itinerary, I just wandered around the city. I gave myself free time to explore and sightsee thing that we didn’t get to during the tour the previous day. Starting from our hotel, we walked all the way to Tower Bridge. It was a LONG walk! But I really wanted the time to explore hidden alleys and whole in the wall restaurants. Going to Tower Bridge from Westminster, we stopped by the famous Borough Market. We tried anything that looked good: fish and chips, to cream-filled donuts, fresh-squeezed juice, assorted breads and pastries, and also their pot pies.

We ate so much at this market! It was really fun to just walk around and find some good things to try. I wish I was able to try more things, but we wanted to keep some room for other goodies we might wander into. I definitely think that Borough Market is something that everyone will enjoy. No matter how many days you have in London, make sure to take some time for this market!

We walked some more until we made it to Tower Bridge. Although, many people mistake this landmark as London Bridge. I wanted to walk there even when we already saw it on the tour because I wanted to walk across it.

Another thing I wanted to try was eating at a famous fish and chips place. I decided on Poppies. And Yes we there from the London Bridge. I really wanted to take this time to explore no matter how long we had to walk. I think it was a great experience, but I have to let you know that my legs were killing me! Anyways, Poppies was SO worth it! The fish was perfectly crispy. I thought there was a perfect ratio between the breading and fish. It was so yummy!

After this meal, we were so tired that we got an Uber to go everywhere else. Carnaby Street was next on our list. It has a lot of stores perfect for shopping and grabbing souvenirs to bring back home. Kingly Court located at the end of the street, is filled with good restaurant choices. Because we were so full, we just walked around and took photos.

We spend some time, just walking around here and then grabbed another Uber so we could visit the Tate Modern Museum. This museum has a landing, where you can get nice views of the city and admission is free. I loved the birds eye view of London, since we opted not to go to the London Eye.

Day 4: Sky Garden + Afternoon Tea

Day 4 was bitter sweet because it was our last day in London. We had plans to take the Chunnel to Paris early evening. We wanted to get some last minute adventures before we left the city.

I think everyone should visit Sky Garden! It’s free, but you still need to make a reservation and get a ticket. Get more info here! It is one of the tallest locations you can visit in London and it provides some really great views of the city! Not only does it have really amazing views, but there are also lots of plants and greenery for your enjoyment too! Sky garden is definitely something to include in your 4 days in London itinerary.

After spending a few hours at Sky Garden, we decided to go back to the hotel for afternoon tea. This was honestly my favorite part of our entire London visit. I personally had so many cafes in mind for afternoon tea, but because we were leaving that evening, we decided to stick to the hotel.

I LOVED the afternoon tea at St. Ermins. I was the only one who got the tea. Everyone else in my party opted for the fish and chips. Honestly, both were so GREAT! I loved everything about this experience. I chose a very fruity tea, which was honestly one of the best teas I have ever tried (and I drink a lot of tea). All the sandwiches and especially the desserts were so tasty! The desserts were super cute and very intricately decorated. Everything was super cute and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

If you are going to be in London for 4 days, then this is a great itinerary for you! I am very happy with how my trip went. There are definitely some things I would do again, like Borough Market, and afternoon tea. But, I would forgo Stonehenge, and the city tour just because I already did that. I feel like I would find more specific tours to take.

Optional Activities

If you want to visit this city and save money, visit their museums! The Natural History Museum is really cool! Most museums are free to view, and will give you more insight into the culture!

Instead of taking a bus or other form of a vehicle tour, opt for a walking tour! Depending on where you are, you can see some pretty cool street art, see other awesome things, and also possible try the best street food!

I truly think that 4 days in London is enough time to see the major things! use your time wisely and you can see and do almost everything you want to!
