Beginner makeup is my specialty because I focus more on skincare than actual makeup. I love a more natural look because it highlights natural beauty instead of covering it up. I have 6 items on my essential makeup tools list. Read on to see what they are!

Beauty Blender

My Beauty Blender is the one tool that I always take with me. These sponges are a great way to apply foundation, concealer, or even a BB Cream or CC cream. I like how it blends things into the skin seamlessly. As I said, I really like a more natural look, and I think that a beauty blender and BB cream works so well together.

This kind of sponge makes the application of face products easier (in my opinion) because it will soak up excess product. If you are new to makeup you may apply more than necessary. You might accidentally pump out too much product, a beauty blender is a great way to remove the excess without completely wiping everything off.

I think a beauty blender is something you should have in your bag, especially when you are traveling! Because there are so many uses. For example, not only can you use it for foundation application, but also some powders. It is quite small so you can pop it right into your bag when traveling.

Just make sure to also get a case! I never leave my beauty blender out of the case, this helps keep it clean. You really do not want your beauty blender floating around your bag, but also when you use it damp, it needs a place for it to dry. A case will be able to give the blender good air circulation. This helps prevent molding.

Makeup Brushes

Makeup brushes are arguably the most important makeup tools for anyone who does makeup. Of course, there are millions of brushes out there and for every possible use. I think there are only several brushes you need in your essential makeup tools kit. The ones that are essential to me include some powder brushes and also an eyeshadow brush.

Powder Brush

Powder brushes are versatile in terms of powder application. I have several of the same brushes for different products. For example, I have a brush to wipe off translucent powder, another brush for blush, and lastly a brush for bronzer application. If you want the bare minimum in your make up tools bag, it’s important to narrow down what you really need and what you do not.

I apply translucent powder with my beauty blender and use brush to wipe that off. You can use the same powder brush to apply blush. I hardly ever use blush, and when I do it is very light. For me, I love the little hint of color all over the face. I find it makes me look more youthful.

Bronzer can be applied with a beauty blender or with a brush. I typically have a separate brush for bronzer just because I like to really blend it in. Sometimes the beauty blender takes too long to blend everything in. Thus, a separate brush just makes things quicker.

Eyes

An eye shadow brush is one of the essential makeup tools if you want to use eye shadow! A smaller brush is needed to blend it onto the eyelid. I will typically use the same eyeshadow brush for multiple colors. Starting with the darkest one first and work my way to the lighter colors.

I like the blending when I do my eyes this way. It works for me, try it and see if you like it too! It will save so much space in your bag as you will not need a different brush for every color.

For the inner corners, I like to use a light glitter, gold or white. When I do this, I typically will use my finger to apply. And then use the same eyeshadow brush to blend it into the rest of the eyelid.

Eyelash Curler

Now an eyelash curler is debatable. Because I have lash extensions, I no longer have an eyelash curler on my list of makeup tools I use every day.

For those who do not have extensions, an eyelash curler is a great tool to help keep your lashes perky. Combined with mascara, an eyelash curler will help define and showcase your lashes. Some people are blessed with long beautiful lashes, and you just need to curl them to get more definition.

If you do not have extensions, I would say that an eyelash curler is definitely something you need to include in your list of makeup tools.

Spooly

I think spoolies are so important even for a basic makeup look. As part of my everyday makeup look, I have to do my eyebrows. Most eyebrow sticks, pencils, and brushes come with a spooly, but there are some that do not. I would invest in an eyebrow brush and spooly combo. I think this is one of the makeup tools everyone needs in their essentials bag.

This helps blend out any product to make your brows look more natural and full. Even if you use a tinted brow gel, the product is applied with a spooly. But my issue is if I want to blend it in some more, then another clean spooly is needed. When I try to blend my brows out with a spooly covered in product, it just makes it look messier.

I love this eyebrow brush combo because if you use a gel, then this is the perfect brush to apply the product. Then you are able to use the spooly end to blend out all the harsh lines. Regardless of what kind of brow product you use, this brush is something that is always in my essentials makeup tool kit.
