Easy Makeup Looks for the Holidays

Easy Makeup Looks for the Holidays

I love getting dressed and put together up for the Holidays! I feel like it makes things more magical! This year is no different. I compiled all my favorite and easy makeup looks for the holidays. These looks are super easy to achieve, cause girl trust me, I’m not a makeup artist either LOL. I just do my makeup as I do.

Just note, I do my face makeup the same way for both of these looks. I apply foundation and a little bit of concealer, to cover any blemishes. I also use a lighter colored concealer under my eyes, allows you to cover dark circles, and brighten the area. Once my foundation and concelor are applied, I set everything with a translucent powder. Then, I add some bronzer to my checks. I typically will use a very natural and light blush, just because I have naturally rosy cheeks and I don’t want to overdo it.

Look 1: Bold Lips

Who doesn’t love a bold lip?! With the right outfit and occasion, I feel like a bold lip can be very classy and elegant. This sounds like the perfect trend for your holiday makeup look! This look is also SO easy to get. Using your lips as the statement “piece” you just need to pick a BOLD lip color and go with it.

The bolder your selected color is, the more neutral I would keep the rest of your makeup. But that’s totally up to you! I personally tend to lean more towards deep, rich, and warm tones for the winter months. Warning, my “bold” lip is bold for me, but not for other people. It’s still quite neutral. I think it’s beautiful and looks great with so many outfit styles and colors. But even a light red lip is be super pretty for the holidays.

The first step is to make sure you moisturize your lips. Then, complete your face makeup as you normally would, with foundation and concealer. With the translucent power, don’t just set your foundation, but also apply some to your lips. I feel like this helps keep the product on for longer. Finish up your face with some bronzer, contour, and blush. Personally, I just use a bronzer because contouring takes too much time.

Create your eyes as you like. Whether it’s natural or edgy, choose the eye shadow style of your choice. Apply mascara or falsies, depending on your comfort level. To make your falsies look even more natural, get it as close to the lash line as possible! I only use falsies because my lashes are so short mascara doesn’t even help LOL. Nice long lashes with a bold lip are so pretty!

Lastly, finish off this bold lip look with a lip liner that matches your desired lip color. You can never go wrong with a red lip!

The lip liner will help keep the lipstick in place and reduce the risk of it slipping away or smudging. Once the liner is in place, apply the lipstick. Try to stay in lines, and try not to smack your lips together. After you put on a single layer, blot with a piece of tissue paper and apply another layer of color. This will help keep from smudging and looking uneven.

The next thing you want to do is clean up around your lips with taking a very small amount of concealer. This will ensure you get clean lines and a smooth finish. You can use any bold lip color you want, just try to find the matching liner!

I find that this technique helps keep the color on as long as possible, and reduces smudging.

Look 2: Glittery Smokey Eye

I essentially do a smokey eye, using natural matte shades, usually brown. Purple is another super pretty option, but because I wear neutrals on an everyday basis I feel more comfortable working with browns.

I apply a shimmery gold for the inner corner of my eye and a glittery brown for the middle of my lids (I usually just use my finger to get the pigment in the center). Take some time to blend all the shades into each other so that it looks cohesive and the lines are not so harsh.

I personally don’t like using black for the outer corners because I think it’s a little to harsh for me, but if you are comfortable working with black, and you like it then go for it! Black is super elegant and classic. Perfect for holiday gatherings! Using a glittery eye shadow is a super simple hack to get a makeup artist like look!

I like to keep my liner and lips a little more simple because this glittery eye is already a statement. Tightline your top lashes with black or brown eyeliner. Learn more about this technique here.

I personally like to use gel because a black pencil or pen will smudge. (We definitely do not need raccoon eyes at any party.) If you are comfortable with false lashes, apply them. On the other hand, if you are not, that’s totally ok! Just follow your normal mascara routine. And voila, your eyes are finished!

After your eyes are finished, start your normal face makeup. Do your foundation, concealer, blush, and bronzer or contour to your liking.

Lastly, don’t forget your lips! But first, make sure you apply some chapstick! I like to go with a deep neutral type of color. I usually go for like a mauve, or rich nude, depending on my outfit and how intense the eyes are.

To accomplish this look, I used:

This is my go to look for holiday parties! I feel like glitter is so perfect for the holidays or special occasions. It is really hard to mess this look up. If, for some reason, you don’t like it, just keep blending. It will eventually look more cohesive.

These are simple things you can add to your current makeup routine so you are holiday party ready! For the holidays, I like to enhance my normal everyday makeup routine, with glitter or a bold lip. I still like to keep things relatively simple. These easy makeup looks are super easy for beginners and still natural looking!

You can always add a wing, but I am not talented enough for that LOL. I like to stick to easy makeup looks for the holidays, its less stressful (just in case something goes wrong.)
